USA Basketball is righting a wrong when they're finally inviting Kirk Hinrich to try out for the team. He should make the squad, along with Chris Paul, since point guard is a weak spot for the US. Now they should add AI.

Look for Adam's and my take on the draft, coming soon.Jeff Dritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931073490721414384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11450263.post-1152231831332520892006-07-06T19:23:00.000-05:002006-07-06T19:23:00.000-05:00Adam,Good work as usual. Check out my blog for my...Adam,

Good work as usual. Check out my blog for my own comments on the draft which admittedly focus primarily on Portland, but what better year to focus on P-Town than the one year they did something right.

What you didn't know when you wrote this, but what I'm sure you do now is that the way Portland got Roy makes Portland's draft even better and I'm actually a little excited about the Kevin Pritchard era in Portland.

apparently, the Wolves drafted Roy for Houston even though they wanted Foye. Houston was going to get Foye (since the Blazers would certainly draft Gay) and then trade him and another player for Roy, the guy they loved.

somehow Portland found out and drafted Foye which forced the Wolves to deal with them and Paul Allen tossed in some of his walking around money to trade Foye for Roy. Of course, that doesn't really answer the question of the hell wouldn't the Wolves prefer Roy to Foye? Because McHale is an idiot, that's why.

Let me just add a couple things to the points you make with which I almost completely agree.

1. Foye is going to end up the best PG in this draft, especially once Portland ends the nonsense of trying to turn Roy into a 1 when it should focus on turning Webster into a 3.

2. Sheldon Williams got bashed around because the Hawks took him "too high", but I think he may be the early front runner for rookie of the year. I see him putting up Okafor type numbers right away. Of course, that changes if Morrison or Gay are given a complete greenlight in Charlotte and Memphis just to appease the fans.

3. Aldridge will be Portland's most productive player by the end of the year. Write it down. Oh wait, I guess I just did.

4. This is one of the worst crops of fantasy rookies I can remember. There is not a single guy I would draft in the top 6 rounds.

5. Totally agree about the Gay for Battier trade. A total win/win. I think Gay is going to be an all out stud, but would have been held back playing with T-Mac. In Memphis he will be the goods.Josh Stumphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10172632315739605607noreply@blogger.com
